Beyond the number
BARSPORT was born from an obsession with data. Expected Goals, the Meritometer, the Scout Engine: tools built to see what the scoreline hides. We believe in numbers, because numbers tell a truth the eye alone struggles to grasp.
But there's one thing no spreadsheet will ever measure: what it feels like to stand on the terraces in the rain, to watch your team go down, or to dream of a promotion nobody thought possible. Data explains how it went. It doesn't explain why we care.
That's why BARSPORT wants to be an editorial project too. Not just charts and percentages, but stories. People. Voices.
The smaller clubs deserve a voice
Open any newspaper and you'll find ten pieces on the giants. Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City: everyone talks about them, always, everywhere. That's fair, they move millions of fans. But there's a football that stays silent.
It's the football of those who support a smaller club. Of those who know by heart the starting eleven of a team that never makes the Sunday-night highlights. Of those who watched a youth academy grow, who cried over a last-day survival, who lived their team as a faith and not as a trophy.
That football has extraordinary stories. The only problem is that nobody tells them. We want to.
We're looking for you
We're looking for writers. Journalists, bloggers, students, fans: anyone with something to say and the desire to say it well.
We're looking for people who want to devote themselves to their passion. Who want to tell the story of their team from the inside, with the knowledge of someone who follows it every week and the love of someone who never stopped believing. Do you support a smaller club? Even better: here, everyone will hear about it.
We're not asking you to be an established professional. We're asking you to have something to say, and to want to say it well.
What we give you
A real platform, clean, modern, with thousands of potential readers in five languages. And something no other blog can offer you: the data.
Want to write that your striker is unlucky? We'll prove it with xG. Want to argue your coach builds better football than the table suggests? The Meritometer is on your side. Your stories, backed by our numbers. Heart and head, together.
Join us
If you've read this far, you're probably already one of us.
Write to us. Tell us who you are, which team makes your heart beat faster, what you'd like to write about. It doesn't matter how small your club is: if you love it enough to tell its story, there's a place for you here.
Football is made of numbers. But above all, it's made of the people who live those numbers. We're looking for writers. We're looking for you.
